How to Clean Kitchen Appliances

The kitchen appliances need special tending when they are being cleaned, because they can easily be damaged if the procedure is done improperly. Therefore, if it’s time to clean the entire house, before you turn to cleaning the appliances read the following lines to find out how you must proceed.

Coffee maker

If you were faced with bitter tasting coffee before proceeding to clean the coffee maker, the best method to clean the it is to fill the pot with a solution made from water and baking soda, and let it sit overnight to get rid of the unpleasant taste.
Other methods of cleaning the coffee maker that you could try are either to try one of the many detergents available on the market that are designed to run through these machines, or to prepare a solution from water and vinegar and run it through the coffee maker.

Refrigerator

To clean the refrigerator to perfection, prepare a solution by mixing water and baking soda. Douse a sponge in this mixture and scrub all the interior surfaces of the refrigerator with it, including the removable components, and clean the unit on the exterior either with a traditional cleaner or with a stainless steel cleaner if the refrigerator is made from stainless steel.

Dishwasher

If the dishwasher is made from stainless steel, clean the dishwasher by wiping it with a stainless steel cleaner, and if the exterior is made from an enamel coating, you should scrub it with a regular household cleaner.
When it comes to the interior of the dishwasher, run an empty cycle on the highest setting, with the sanitize option engaged, and if you notice that there are still unpleasant smells lingering in it, prepare a water-vinegar solution and run a wash cycle with it to get rid of all the unwanted odors.

Microwave

When you start cleaning the microwave, fill a microwave-safe bowl with water and lemon juice, start the microwave to run for 5 minutes, remove the bowl and proceed to rinsing and scrubbing the interior of the unit with a damp towel that was doused with hot water. In case there are still any unpleasant smells residing in the microwave, leave a bowl of water and baking soda in it overnight to absorb the odors.

Food processor and blender

While it’s true that some food processors and blenders are safe to clean in the dishwasher, it’s better to do it manually because they might crack. Therefore, fill the food processor or the blender with a solution made from hot water and a detergent, and run the appliance at the highest setting for 15-30 seconds, after which you rinse it out with cold water and let the unit air dry.
